Applicants must have at least a high school diploma, submit three letters of recommendation and one original transcript, have an interview with the director, and complete an essay. Credit may be given for previous course work in another MACTE accredited course. Applicants who learned English as another language may be required, after the interview, to take the computer based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A total score of 100 (25 in each area) or better on the computerized test will be required for acceptance. The applicant is responsible for forwarding the test results to the training center.
Course Dates for Summer 2024
July 1-3 and July 8-30, Monday through Saturday (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
and one or two Saturdays each month starting at the end of August
Our team of experienced instructors and field consultants guide students through the academic and internship phases of the course. MTEI pays all travel expenses for practicum site visits within 100 miles of the center. Students pay for travel expenses over 100 miles.

- Cash, check or money order are accepted. For Plan B, there is a $50.00 service charge.
- All tuition must be at the Training center on the 5th of each month. A late charge of $35.00 is assessed after the 10th.

- Students needing to retake an exam, will pay as follows. Oral exam $80, Written exam $50. *Items are subject to cost change
- The American Montessori Society awards teacher education scholarships to aspiring Montessori teachers. Those eligible to apply are individuals who have been accepted, are in the process of being accepted, or are already enrolled in an AMS-affiliated teacher education program. - Individual subjects may be offered at the rate of $160 per day or $20 per hour.
